Hacienda Road climbs north toward the hills and the quieter, larger-lot streets; south of Whittier the grid of post-war neighborhoods runs down toward Imperial Highway and the Fullerton line.
The housing stock is mostly single-story and two-story homes from the 1950s through the 1970s on real lots, with pockets of newer construction and a handful of condominium communities along the boulevards. Streets like Rye Avenue, El Dorado Avenue, Brass Lantern Drive and Randall Avenue are typical of what buyers find here: three- and four-bedroom homes, attached garages, front lawns, and room to add on.
Schools fall under the La Habra City School District at the elementary and middle levels and the Fullerton Joint Union High School District beyond, and the Children's Museum at La Habra is the city's best-known landmark. The 57 and 60 freeways are the working connections — the 57 south into Fullerton and Anaheim, the 60 west toward downtown Los Angeles — and Beach Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard carry the rest.

The bulk of the market is post-war tract homes — three- and four-bedroom single-stories and split-levels on lots with driveways and yards. The streets north of Whittier toward Hacienda Road tend to carry the larger lots and the views.
Condominium communities along Lambert Road and the boulevards offer a smaller footprint without leaving the city.
